The Pro’s Closet Inc. (TPC) is the world’s largest retailer of previously-owned bikes and cycling gear. We purchase bikes and components from manufacturers, retailers, and individuals and work alongside bike shops to help customers trade in their old bikes for a new one. POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager of Bicycle Mechanics is responsible for enabling/enforcing the quality inspections of both vintage and modern bicycles and components.  You will be expected to manage a staff of several other mechanics to properly use tools and disassemble bicycles, as well clean items up to company standards.  There is a strong focus on productivity and quality, you will be expected to have the team consistently perform against defined standards, and continually strive to find ways to improve those times.  You will be tasked  with scoping and implementing strategic plans to scale the mechanic’s department to the company’s growth projections.

The position calls for a high level of interpersonal communication, willingness to adapt, attention to detail and consistency.  Staying organized in a busy work environment, managing a team, some heavy lifting of 50 lbs or more, and some inventory management and data entry will be expected.  Maintaining a positive, helpful attitude is imperative in this position.  Flexibility and a willingness to help in any way possible are needed in our small, dynamic team environment. Knowledge of bikes is a must.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing a team of 7+ other bicycle mechanics.
Analyze process workflow, employee and space requirements and equipment layout; implementing changes.
Control inventory levels by overseeing physical counts; reconciling data with storage system.
Adhering to, and improving upon existing standards of processing times.
Inspecting, disassembling/building, and servicing vintage and modern bicycles and components.
Ensuring/enforcing quality of inventory coming out of your department, taking corrective actions where necessary
Demonstrating proficiency with our computer systems and software.
Participating in a proactive team environment that involves a ‘lean process’ approach to continuous process improvement in everything we do.
Maintain staff jobs by mentoring, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
Contribute workflow information and recommendations to the strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement standardized production productivity, quality and customer service standards.

REQUIREMENTS

5+ years of professional bicycle mechanic management experience. 
Excellent written/verbal communication skills 
Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
Ability to manage/lead others, as well as offer constructive criticism
Clean driving record.
A positive and professional attitude and a consistent work ethic must be self-motivated and work well on a team in a shop/warehouse atmosphere.
