Boulder, Colo. (Oct. 22, 2021) — Three premier Boulder cycling advocacy organizations announced today the first-ever cycling candidate forum for Boulder city council candidates. The virtual forum will take place on Tuesday, October 26, from 6:30 – 8 p.m., and will feature local and national cycling icons and cover a range of issues, including access and connectivity, bike theft, enforcement and safety. This forum is organized by the Boulder Mountainbike Alliance (BMA), Community Cycles and Cyclists 4 Community (C4C). Together, these three organizations represent approximately 20,000 riders and cycling enthusiasts. All ten city council candidates previously participated in a questionnaire that resulted in a candidate scorecard that has since been distributed to the combined membership base of these three organizations.
The forum features an impressive roster of notable local and national cycling icons who will ask questions to each candidate. Each panelist will appear in his or her personal capacity. Confirmed panelists include:

Kristin Weber, 2x U.S. cyclocross national champion
“We recognize that most Boulder voters haven’t yet turned in their ballots, so we’ve intentionally organized this forum to give our voting members the opportunity to learn more about the candidates’ positions on cycling,” said Bill Rigler, a C4C board member and former Transportation Advisory Board chair. “We are honored to have several national champions and nationally recognized experts participating in this forum.”
“In previous election cycles, less than half of all ballots had been turned in by Election Day, and this forum is a great opportunity for our combined memberships to learn where candidates stand on issues that matter to cyclists,” said Sue Prant, executive director of Community Cycles. “We’re grateful to the candidates and the panelists for taking the time to speak to an issue that impacts our entire community.”
“Access and connectivity, safety and enforcement are among the top concerns for riders, parents, children and everyone else looking to bike for recreation or exercise,” said Wendy Sweet, executive director of BMA. “We want the candidates to see first-hand these issues are important to our memberships, and we’re delighted to provide this forum for our members one week before the election.”
