Saturday was the 3rd annual Tour de Ladies, a 30 mile or metric century bike ride women’s ride in Douglas County. The event kicked off at the PACE Center in Parker, Colorado and women rode out to conquer the hilly course.
The ride experience was highlighted by frequent aid stations (2 for the 30 mile course, 5 for the metric), excellent course marking and signage, supportive aid station workers (including men in drag), and a beautiful route.
The ride is fairly challenging – 1500 feet climbing for the 30 miler and 3500 feet climbing for the metric – but at the finish line, riders were greeted by friendly faces, a post-race expo, and an air conditioned lunch.
The swag is also top-notch, consisting of some really cool earrings, a frisbee, and some super sweet cycling socks.
Riders also got the added bonus knowing that their race entries benefitted the Crisis Center, which is an organization which strives to end domestic violence through advocacy, education, and prevention; while helping communities live free of violence.
