OVER $9k in PRIZES IN BACKCOUNTRY LIFELINE AND 139 FUND FUNDRAISER

For the second time this year, Backcountry Lifeline and The 139 Fund are teaming up to give away a sweet bike, gear, and first aid kits. All funds go to The 139 Fund, which helps support BCLL’s ongoing efforts in mountain bike safety. For just a $10 donation, participants can win a Specialized Levo Comp 6Fattie!

E-Bikes are here! For some, that means doing what they do, with a little less effort. For others, it means being able to mountain bike for the very first time. For BCLL, it means people will be going further into the woods, faster, and perhaps with fewer skills than more experienced, traditional riders. For these reasons, it is more important than ever that riders have the training and tools they need to take care of themselves and other riders when someone crashes in the woods.

“E-Bikes open the doors of exploration, adventure, and awareness to a wide audience. More people playing outside and valuing the land that is our playground, can only be a good thing.” – Cameron Chambers, 24 Solo World Champion

The BCLL team is excited to partner with Specialized for the second year in a row, now a GOLD level sponsor, and to give away a new Turbo Levo Comp e-bike for its Fall fundraising event. Along with sponsors Maxxis, Yeti, Smith, Osprey and Muc-Off, Specialized has helped bring first aid training to riders throughout the US.

“We couldn’t do what we do without our sponsors,” BCLL Co-Founder Bonnie McDonald can often be heard saying. “Their support has been integral to our mission. Everytime we talk to them, they say ‘We love what you’re doing; it’s the right thing to do; how can we help?’ Helping us raise money through the Giveaway is just another way they’re leading by example, trying to help make mountain biking safer.”

Donations to The 139 Fund start for as little as $10, allowing participants a chance to win over $9k in prizing. Three prize packages for the Fall GiveAway includes products from Maxxis, Smith, Osprey and POC, in addition to the grand prize from Specialized Bikes. Each prize comes with a custom first aid fanny pack kit. These first aid kits are also available for sale on BCLL’s Gear page.

About Backcountry Lifeline

Founded in the Fall of 2015, Backcountry Lifeline (BCLL) aims to provide mountain bikers and event organizers with the training, tools, and technology necessary to be more prepared for the types of emergency situations they may encounter while racing and riding. The organization currently offers two types of courses–the single day, First Aid for Mountain BikersTM course, geared towards frontcountry settings; and the four-day Wilderness First Aid for Mountain BikersTM course for backcountry riders–as well as instruction for event organizers pertaining to incident preparation and management. Partnered with Big Mountain Enduro, the Enduro World Series, and NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association), Backcountry Lifeline brings its training programs to bike communities throughout the U.S.

About The 139 Fund

The Fall Giveaway is hosted by The 139 Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in honor of Will Olson, who died on Stage 3 of the Big Mountain Enduro/Enduro World Series race in Crested Butte, CO, on August 1, 2015.
