I just visited the Open sky loop with a friend and our bikes. The vistas are beautiful. We are so fortunate to live in an area that values our land and our access to it. However it was frustrating to find that the surface that was chosen for the new trail is so inappropriate for bikes. The recycled asphalt is very rough. It is not compacted and deep(loose) making movement and control really difficult. I love biking the county trails and this surface, thankfully, is not normally used. Was this done intentionally to discourage bicycles? I am not a runner but it does not feel runner friendly either. I suppose it will eventually settle into the ground. How long will that take?
