Full-time Denver B-cycle Field Technician
40 hours / week
Shifts will include weekdays, nights, and weekends between 7am and 11pm
Reports to: Shop & Operations Manager
Supervision exercised: None
Compensation: Hourly – Starting $13.00 DOE
Health, Vision, and Dental Benefits: Available after 90-day probation period

Position Overview:
Denver B-cycle operates a public bike sharing program in the City and County of Denver. B-cycle Technicians are responsible for the repair and maintenance of bicycles included in a 700 bicycle fleet and the delivery of bicycles to bike stations distributed throughout the city. Denver B-cycle Technicians will split their time based on the needs of the organization between bicycle repair and maintenance duties at the Denver B-cycle shop and the dispersal of bicycles to stations. Technicians must not only be excellent mechanics, but also must be competent, courteous drivers who are comfortable operating in a high traffic urban environment. Mechanical Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Job knowledge and skills include, but are not limited to:
• The ability to understand the operation and maintenance of all components of a B-cycle bicycle
• The ability to troubleshoot and identify problems with B-cycle bicycles
• The ability to disassemble, clean, and repair/replace all components of a B-cycle bicycle in a timely and cost-effective manner
• The ability to use hand and power tools safely and creatively to solve mechanical problems
• The ability to maintain a safe and orderly work area
• The ability to assist the Shop & Service Manager with inventory control and the ordering of parts
• The ability to perform basic data entry
• Basic understanding and awareness of the concept of Bike Sharing
Driving and Distribution Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Job knowledge and skills include, but are not limited to:
• Excellent customer service skills
• The skill to operate a vehicle towing a trailer in a safe and prudent manner
• A working knowledge of the geography and street layout of the City and County of Denver
• The ability to park the delivery vehicle in a manner as to minimize the chance of a motor vehicle, pedestrian, or bicycle accident while loading and unloading bicycles
• The ability to analyze system needs based on real-time web-based reporting, anticipate short-term needs of the system, and distribute the bikes accordingly
• The ability to make decisions that will ensure the smooth operation of the system with little or no supervision
• The ability to troubleshoot minor problems with docks and kiosks
• The ability to replace components of docks and kiosks
• Knowledge of the B-cycle system and the ability to answer questions posed by customer and potential customers
• The ability to maintain a clean delivery vehicle and perform basic maintenance on delivery vehicle and trailer
Computer and Electronic Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
Job knowledge and skills include, but are not limited to:
• General understanding and capability of Windows based computer systems
• General understanding and capability of smart-phones and Google Hangouts
• Ability to follow electronic troubleshooting protocols safely and effectively
Physical Requirements:
Denver B-cycle Technicians:
• Must be able to repeatedly lift bikes weighing 50 lbs. from the floor to a height of no less than 34” using proper lifting technique
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather
• Must be able to safely ride a bicycle in an urban environment when pulling a utility trailer
• Must have a valid driver’s license
