2nd Annual Ride Like a Girl Day

Ride Like a Girl: The Second Annual Colorado Women’s Ride Day
Celebrating women cyclists with women-led road & mountain bike rides for ALL abilities.

Big Ring Cycles is hosting the Second Annual Colorado Women’s Ride Day on Sunday, August 5 at Tony Grampsas Memorial Park in Golden. The day begins with a variety of women-led road and mountain bike rides on routes ranging from casual to challenging. Riders return to a delicious brunch prepared by The Basted Egg and drinks. Besides scoring prizes and swag, this is a great chance to connect with other women cyclists, including special guest, 14-time national champion Katie Compton.

“It started with the desire to connect some of the amazing women cyclists we know and to encourage more women riders. We all began as novice riders ourselves so we wanted to support riders from newbies to seasoned veterans,” commented Helen Gardner, manager of Big Ring Cycles.

Last year’s combination of cycling and party was a big success with about 80 riders gathering on an unusually misty morning in early August for the First Annual Colorado Women’s Ride Day. Organizers are hoping to grow the event and build the community of women riders in Colorado. They are also looking to support the future of cycling by donating a portion of the proceeds from this year’s event to young cyclists in the Colorado High School Cycling League.
