Tyler Butterfield offers training, racing advice for IM Boulder

Boulder pro & Olympian Tyler Butterfield provides some training and racing advice for the inaugural 2014 Ironman Boulder, including acclimating to altitude, preparing for the heat, a good swim warmup, and biking in thin air.

Tyler Butterfield is one of the world’s leading triathletes, having just won the Catlin Bermuda National Triathlon Championshipsyesterday, and winning Abu Dhabi in mid-March. Living and training in Boulder, Tyler is a terrific ambassador for the state of Colorado and the sport of triathlon.
He has competed at the highest level in both road bicycle racing and triathlons, and made history when he became Bermuda’s first professional triathlete in 2002. He then made his way into the record books yet again in 2004 when he became the youngest male triathlete to ever compete at an Olympic Games in Athens. Butterfield represented his nation again at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He has also competed multiple times at the Triathlon World Championships, the Commonwealth Games, and the professional cycling circuit. He placed 7th at the Ironman World Championships in Kona in 2013. He will compete in Kona again in 2014, and has his eyes on the 2016 Olympics.
