2018 Biking the Boat Charity Ride: An event for the whole family

Steamboat Springs, CO – Steamboat Adaptive Recreational Sports ‘STARS’ and Routt County Riders are pleased to announce the 8th annual Biking the Boat Charity Ride on Saturday, September 8th. This family friendly event has a ride for everyone, whether you are a novice biker or an avid cyclist. There is a 20-mile, a 50-mile Challenge ride which includes the “iconic three sisters” loop, as well as a 5-mile All Abilities ride that is perfect for families. Rides will begin from the West Lincoln Park. All the rides will finish back at the park with an after-ride party featuring food by Qdoba and New Belgium beer.

Last year close to 175 riders with and without disabilities participated in the ride. All the monies raised will stay in Routt County to help promote biking in Routt County and provide recreational programs for people with disabilities. “This ride is not just for people with disabilities. It is for everyone that loves to bike and wants to help others can experience the thrill of participate in biking in our community. “states Julie Taulman, STARS Executive Director. “We hope that this ride proves to people that everyone has the ability to get out a recreate.” This year the STARS is hoping for closer to 200 riders that will come out to support the cause. STARS currently own over 20 adaptive bikes that clients can rent or use in their weekly summer programs and camps and plans to make them available to clients that need them to participate in the charity ride.

Riders can sign up as an individual, family, or team. Those that raise $250.00 or more will receive a 2018 Biking the Boat custom jersey and an opportunity to win great prizes. Registration is open and riders are encouraged to sign up at www.steamboatstars.com today. All riders will receive a t-shirt, food from Q’Doba, and beer (over 21 only) from New Belgium Brewery.
