The Rocky Mountain Junior Cycling Challenge is for Juniors Men/Women ages 9-18 years old, U23 Men and U23 Women.  The Rocky Mountain Jr. Cycling Challenge is an omnium with 3 stages  (Time Trial, Criterium, Road Race) and the overall winners will be determined by points and not time. The Time Trial and the Road Race are Colorado State Championships for Juniors.  Registration is open!

Time Trial – Friday, August 5th

Colorado State Jr. Time Trial Championships

The TT is an uphill time trial that covers 8.6 km and a 290 m rise. Do not be deceived, this TT will make it hurt! All racers are riding the same course.  First rider starts at 4:00pm.  The order of categories will be JW/JM 9-10, JW/JM 11-12, JW/JM 13-14, JW/JM 15-16, JW/JM 17-18, U23 W & U23M.  Start times will be posted at the host hotel on Friday and online.  Racers will start at 30 second intervals.

Road Race – Saturday, August 6th

Colorado State Jr. Road Race Championships

This is an amazing road race course that starts at Veterans Park & sends riders up an extended climb on Peach Valley Rd. At the summit, the course turns left and heads across the rollercoaster on Silt Mesa Rd. before hitting the fun and fast Mile Pond Loop. Older riders continue north on Peach Valley for additional climbing before hitting the Mile Pond Loop. After the Mile Pond Loop all riders climb back up Silt Mesa Rd before a thundering descent to the finish.

Criterium – Sunday, August 7th

This was the new criterium course last year in downtown Rifle.  It was such a success we are bringing it back! It features a fast and safe four corner course with long straights and a slight climb to make the legs hurt through the tree lined neighborhood and the heart of downtown Rifle.  The start/finish is at East 5th Street and East Avenue.
