Between the Modern Market Cyclocross race on Saturday and the Blue Sky Velo on Sunday, almost 700 riders took advantage of the hot weather and challenging courses in Centenial and Longmont respectfully.
The Modern Market Race featured the Andy Balika Celebration of Life Race where proceeds were raised as entry fees from what would’ve been Andy’s category were donated to his remaining family and there was a silent auction as well.
Further on that, Karen Balika took the start line in the Men’s 40+ with a few of her close girlfriends to race in his honor. She said, “it gave me the strength I needed to race in Andy’s honor. The cycling community is a family that I embrace wholeheartedly. Jett and I truly are blessed to be surrounded by people with such big hearts.”
