• Jen Barbour of Team Evergreen and Triple Bypass Shares What She Loves About it and Whats New

Submitted by Bill Plock on February 8th, 2021

If you have ever met Jen Barbour, the Executive Director of Team Evergreen, who puts on the annual Triple Bypass, you have felt her passion for cycling and equal compassion for people. In an organization who exists to raise money for local charities while riding bikes, she is the perfect fit.

That passion punches a big energy punch too, and like the way she rides a bike, her efforts are relentless and enduring. She has been swamped this year with the recent acquisitions of the Bailey Hundo, and Beti Bike Bash. Then add in the new Floyd Hill Sessions Series (Mtb weekly timed enduro series) and Co2ut Gravel Ride along with all the COVID challenges and working on the Triple Bypass and Bob Cook Mt. Evans Hill Climb, Jen is, well, buried. We managed to sneak a few minutes of her time and ask a few questions about the Triple Bypass and Team Evergreen Read more

Submitted by Bill Plock on January 28th, 2021

About five years ago after two bicyclists were killed in succession in Fort Collins, there was outcry from citizens. The City of Fort Collins heard the outcry and innovated classroom based education on driving around bicyclists.

Bicycle Colorado saw the program and its value. Now, C4C and Bicycle Colorado are partnering to fund the delivery of the class in digitized form to tens of thousands of drivers and bicyclists. Read more

          • Triny Willerton and IT COULD BE ME and The Story Behind the New Video

Submitted by Bill Plock on January 19th, 2021

n June of 2018 we met Triny Willerton a few days after she was hit by a motorist and nearly killed. The original information from Police of how it happened were false and did not include Triny’s side of the story. Eventually the truth came out and the driver was charged. If you would like to read the whole story here is a link; https://303cycling.com/cyclist-hit-by-a-car-may-8th-the-whole-story-now/

But the effect this had on Triny was astounding and led to a movement she created called “It Could Be Me.” She crusades to do everything possible to help makes roads safer for cyclists and vulnerable road users. She played an instrumental role in pushing for legislation in 2019 that greatly increased the penalties for drivers who injure or kill vulnerable road users. Read more

              • Castle Rock Fat Bike Snow Adventure and Cultural Hub Extraordinaire?

Submitted by Bill Plock on January 5th, 2021

When I say Castle Rock, Colorado…what comes to mind?

Awesome backcountry adventure? A gritty and popular brew pub vibe from “the other side of the tracks”. Perhaps that shining monument to Law and Order—The Douglas County Jail complex? Or, if you are like me, Castle Rock reminds you of New York City right? Well, in an epic Dirt Journal mix tape they all collided last week.

If Castle Rock reminds you of none of the above, except perhaps the Justice Center (that’s a separate story on to itself) I’ll show you how this overgrown Highlands Ranch is actually a trippy Narnia. You just need to put on the magic rose colored hippie glasses to see it. Read more
