Boulder County and city officials are in the early stages of connecting two trails north of Boulder that will take cyclists and pedestrians off of a narrow bike path on Spine Road and the shoulder of Jay Road.
“We’ve gotten a lot of input over the years,” Boulder County Regional Trails Planner Matt Wempe said. “People want an alternative to riding on Jay Road. That’s what is driving the project.”
The Jay Road Connections Project will look at options for multi-use path connections between the Longmont-to-Boulder Trail at Spine Road and the Cottonwood Trail at Jay Road. The LoBo Trail, as it is called, is a 12-mile-long trail system that runs through Gunbarrel, Niwot and open space properties to connect Boulder to Longmont.
