In every state the racing association designates a state championship race in each discipline (Criterium and Cyclo Cross etc.). There is a championship race for Seniors – adults (18 – 39), Juniors (under 18) and Masters (40 & over). The Bicycle Racing Association of Colorado (BRAC) designated the Ridge at 38 Criterium for the Senior State Championship.
This is a fast, 6 corner, 1.15 mile course in the heart of Wheat Ridge, including 38th Ave. The event will have a festive atmosphere with a brewfest, live music, kids’ zone, team tent area and farmers and artisan market.
We will have cash and merchandise prizes for first, second and third place. Plus 2 primes for each race. In addition to these prizes, BRAC also awards medals for 1st, 2nd & 3rd and a Colorado State Championship Jersey. This jersey is much like a national championship jersey or the Malliot Jaune (Yellow Jersey) in the Tour de France that racers wear during the race.
The race is open to professional and amateur racers in categories 1 thru 4. Racers must have a USAC license. You can purchase one day license for the day of the event. The Ridge at 38 Criterium is part of the Rocky Mountain Road Cup.
