As many of us are finding new ways to stay healthy, safe and active close to home, we’re seeing our local trail systems experience increased ridership and crowding. Upping investment in our trail networks and protecting our public lands are essential in making sure our favorite places to ride and recreate are around for future generations to enjoy. This means annually funding the Land and Water Conservation Fund at $900 million and assisting our federal public lands with nearly $20 billion in deferred maintenance project costs.
The U.S. House of Representatives is slated to vote on a major deal for public lands this month that would solve both issues: the Great American Outdoors Act (H.R. 7092). The U.S. Senate recently passed this bill and we need to keep up the momentum to get the bill on the president’s desk and signed into law by letting your member of Congress know that you support outdoor recreation today.
Click the button below to send your representatives a quick message in support of the bill and feel free to add your own stories and anecdotes as individual letters carry more weight than “form” comments.
If your representative is a co-sponsor of the legislation, they will receive the first form letter thanking them for their support of the Great American Outdoors Act. If they are not a co-sponsor, they will receive the second letter encouraging them to vote for the Great American Outdoors Act.
