Work for a nonprofit community bike shop that puts people on bikes and gives them the skills to keep them rolling!

Bikes Together is seeking an experienced bike mechanic/service manager to serve as our full-time Service Lead at our Park Hill location. In this role you will be the hub of the shop, providing fix it service to the public, prepping retail bikes to sell, and being the bike resource for staff, volunteers, and the public.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community bike shop that supports Denver communities with a range of bicycling programs, services and products. We have a full-service bike shop offering used bikes, parts, and accessories and an affordable Service menu. In addition, we provide a Fix-your-Bike program where anyone can work on their bike with our tools and get assistance from our expert corps of volunteer mechanics.  We also offer classes to those who wish to further their mechanical knowledge.

Essential Duties:
Perform impeccable repairs and tune-ups on a wide variety of bicycles
Oversee all aspects of service department, including: service writing, inventory management, service schedule management, special orders, timely completion of work orders, documentation of repairs, and communication with customers
Support programs and sales staff as needed
Provide quality control of bikes in service department, bikes sold as retail, and backup QC for programs bikes

Experience/Education:
2 years of bicycle service and mechanical experience
Knowledge of nonprofits and/or community organizing preferred
One year working as or with volunteers preferred
Experience with Lightspeed OS or similar software preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to make individuals historically marginalized by bike culture feel welcome
Ability to explain technical aspects of bike maintenance in an accessible way to customers and volunteers
Extensive technical and mechanical knowledge of bicycles and bicycle products
Knowledge of and interest in refurbishing older bicycles
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Accounting/inventory control experience helpful
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, stay focused and complete tasks
Ability to work professionally as a member of a team with people from diverse backgrounds
Experience with wheel building, bleeding and maintaining hydraulic brake systems and maintenance of suspension systems preferred

Physical Effort Required
Regular lifting of 50+ pounds
Prolonged standing, up to 8 hours per day
