Tri Club Tuesday: Altitude Multisport Club

Altitude Multisport Club held their first meeting of 2017 at the PACE Center in Parker, Colorado on February 13, 2017. This meeting was a first for the club – it featured the club’s volunteer coaches in an “Ask the Coach” panel style discussion. This was a great opportunity for members to get to know the club’s coaches and to get some tips and advice for their upcoming season. Questions ranged from “how do you plan a club workout when you have athletes of all levels?” to “recommend one piece of equipment for a beginner and for an experienced athlete”. Everyone walked away with a new nugget of information and a sense of excitement for the upcoming season.

The club’s volunteer coaches are:
Olivia Maurey – Altitude Multisport Club Coaching Director, Cadence Training Systems
Becky Black – The FAST Lab
Justin Chester– Tri Coach Colorado
Charo Egan
Jim Fesler
Ryan Turbyfill – Elevation Multisport
Erin Trail – Altitude Multisport Club President, Trail Endurance Coaching
Kathy Zawadzki – The FAST Lab

Altitude Multisport is off to a terrific start to the year. They currently have 100 members, ranging from complete beginners to Kona qualifiers. The focus for 2017 is community and athletic development. With 8 volunteer coaches, club members have a many opportunities to have someone observe their swim, bike, and run skills. The club is also hosting free skills clinics twice a month, coached by the volunteer coaches. February’s clinics included a functional strength clinic and a run form clinic; March has a swim form and run form clinics planned. Future clinics that are planned for the spring include cycling skills and transitions.

The club also plans on having a race series focus. Without Limits has generously offered club members a discount 5430 Series. AMC will be planning training events around that series to get their members ready for those races. They’re also focusing on beginners early in the season, offering clinics to give racers the confidence to try a tri in 2017.

Altitude Multisport Club is located in South Metro Denver (Aurora, Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Parker, Lone Tree, and Castle Rock). For more information, visit their website or Facebook page.  A listing can also be found in the 303Triathlon Club Directory
