Tri Club Tuesday: Coal Creek Tri Club Launch Successful

Coal Creek Tri Club held their launch party last week and what a success.
With a turnout of nearly 50 folks, both adults and kids, the Runners Roost in Louisville was packed.
Coal Creek Tri Club has come to be through the leading efforts of Kris Henderson. Henderson, a mom of three and avid triathlete, saw a void and went about filling it. She and her family have spent much of the past decade living in Scotland. In Scotland, it’s common place for tri clubs to be family oriented, adult training sessions flip flopping with youth sessions and coached by professional coaches. Henderson has worked hard to make this type of training model a reality in her community in Louisville.
The most important goal of the club it to make the group a family friendly and fully inclusive club where adults and youth of all ability levels feel welcome and encouraged to reach their full potential. CCTC is hoping that by keeping membership fees low, athletes and families will be more able to participate in triathlon. CCTC plans to be registered in 2016 as a 501c3 non profit organization. An important goal for them is to provide scholarships for underprivileged kids. CCTC has applied for an USAT grant to help them accomplish this goal.
Henderson and her club committee have secured certified professional coach, Jared Berg of Race Ready Coaching and USAT certified coach Alison Freeman of D3 Multisport to work with the youth during their cycling and swimming training sessions. Coaches with be implementing an 8 week training program for any youth interested in preparing for and participating in the Longmont Kids Only Triathlon on June 4th.
The club’s current training schedule includes youth and adult Wednesday night runs from the Runners Roost in Louisville and Sunday morning swims at the Louisville Rec Center. Cycling schedule to come.
