The Future of Cycling Tours? This Might Be One Way–We Ride 4’s Tour of Colorado
Submitted by Bill Plock on August 10th, 2020The We Ride 4 Cycling Club just completed a four day mountain tour starting and stopping in Crested Butte with overnights in Buena Vista, Salida and Gunnison. Twenty two riders rode the loop culminating with a favorable tailwind on the wide shouldered highway between Gunnison and Crested Butte on Sunday.
Many of the members have ridden Ride the Rockies for years. With that ride cancelled this year, they decided to form their own version of a mountain tour and do a Covid friendly smaller group ride. Founder and director, Sharon Madison decided to organize this ride not only for fun but to raise money for the clubs charity of choice, The Cottonwood Institute. The club raised $15,000 which also included a live auction via zoom on the third night at the hotel in Gunnison. The team gathered for dinner and bid, and won several items. Read more
303Endurance, “Capturing Amazing People Doing Extraordinary Things”
Submitted by Bill Plock on June 28th, 2020People ask me what is 303? My answer before March might have been a little different answer than today. Different but not really. Last year we committed major capital to buying a media trailer with the intention of rolling to races and rides all summer. This trailer is hand built by Colorado Teardrops in Boulder. We can produce videos and photos with people standing on top. We can do interviews and podcasts inside So now what? Read moreCorona-Confusion is common symptom among outdoor athletes?
Submitted by Bill Plock on May 3rd, 2020What mask do you wear, if any, exercising, especially as it warms up? A buff, bandana, surgical mask, or maybe one of those made by local bike clothing makers like Primal, BOCO or Headsweats? So many choices and styles and some side affect humor to share.
My corona-confusion reared its ugly head back in early March 2020 when the coronavirus was becoming a real concern in the United States. When initially the government said not to wear facemasks because they did not work anyway, I was mildly confused. Coronavirus-Confused? Confusion because why were the front line and healthcare workers still wearing masks if they weren’t effective? I assumed I was slow on the uptake of this novel virus, certainly not the expert, and went about without a facemask but abiding by social distancing and hand washing. Read more
