State Time Trial, A Hot, Good and Safe Turnout

The athletes at the Colorado State Time Trial Championship endured a hot, fierce wind leaving from Keenesburg and completing either a 10k, 20k or 40k course. 255 athletes spread over many categories of ages including para categories and non-TT bikes competed on Saturday. Many triathletes attended as well and took advantage of a special invitation from the Bicycle Racing Association of Colorado (BRAC).

Said President of BRAC, Andy Johnson, “After our surveys to our membership in May and end of June, a majority said they would race a time trial, if it were set up a socially distanced event.  We pushed hard to make the State Time Trial event move forward as an offering to our membership.  BRAC staff did an amazing job executing all the logistics and running an extremely smooth race day.  This is a race that is always done well, but I think this year it was particularly exemplary thanks to staff and the first-rate crew of volunteers.  There were 255 starters who braved the hot temperatures and we saw some incredibly fast times.  We were really happy to see so many multi-sport athletes come out to the race, and we hope to continue to appeal to those athletes to come out and participate in any upcoming time trials as well as all other bike racing types.”
