Stages Cycling presents For the Love of Mud

Stages Cycling presents ‘For the Love of Mud, a Film about Cyclo-cross from Benedict Campbell’ — all proceeds to benefit Boulder Junior Cycling and the Amy D. Foundation.

Stages Cycling will present a Boulder, CO screening of ‘For the Love of Mud, a film about cyclo-cross’ on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 (doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm).

Stages Cycling is a Boulder, Colorado based company, and the presenting sponsor of the World Premiere of ‘For the Love of Mud’ on January 9th at USA Cycling’s 2015 Cyclo-cross National Championships in Austin, Texas. The World Premiere event sold out in a mere eight hours, and prompted the organization of a second late-night screening.

The Boulder, CO screening will take place the week after the National Championships, on January 13th at the Boulder Theater with all proceeds benefiting the non-profit cycling organizations: Boulder Junior Cycling and the Amy D. Foundation.

Destined to become a cult classic for the crazy sport of cyclo-cross, ‘For the Love of Mud’ includes coverage from Cyclo-Cross Nationals in Boulder 2014, the World Championships in Hoogerheide, along with numerous Superprestige races across Europe. Interviews include top pros Sven Nys, Helen Wyman, Jeremy Powers, and Katie Compton, along with age groupers and rabid fans.

Cyclo-cross is a form of bicycle racing and consists of on- and off-road courses that are held on mix of surfaces including pavement, grass, and often mud. Obstacles such as barriers, steep climbs, sand pits exist throughout the course and force racers to navigate tight spaces and turn and often dismount and re-mount the bicycle, carrying it on their shoulders if needed. The sport first began in the Flanders area of Belgium and is usually held in the fall and winter seasons, and racers use specific cyclo-cross bicycles that are outfitted to handle the rigors of cyclo-cross.

“From the moment we signed on as the presenting sponsor of the Texas event, I had the feeling that we just had to bring this to Boulder,” said Matt Pacocha, Stages Cycling marketing manager. “Our success would not have been possible without the support of cyclists, teams, and local retail establishments here in Boulder. Our business isn’t even two years old, and yet we’ve gone from humbly selling our first meters to riders and racers in Boulder to equipping the likes of Team Sky, and world champions in all disciplines of cycling. We couldn’t have had this success without the support of the local cycling community, and we want to help give something back. We’re just so fortunate that Benedict is on board and so willing to donate his creative work in support of the sport of cyclo-cross and worthy causes within our community.”

Benedict Campbell (www.benedict1.com) is a renowned global photographer, digital artist, and filmmaker; he has produced eye-catching imagery for the world’s leading brands and draws on a wide range of styles. When he’s not working on advertising campaigns, he spends his time making cult documentaries, such as “It Ain’t About Cav,” “Café Cowboy” and “The Wall of Death.” He’s still very passionate about riding his bike.

Stages Cycling (www.stagescycling.com) launched at the Interbike trade show in 2012, and started selling the Stages Power meter in February of 2013. The Stages Power meter measures a rider’s wattage to derive a total workload for an effort. It’s made for use in training and racing, and is the first power meter to cater to every cyclists’ need. Stages Power is truly ‘the power meter for every rider.’ Stages Cycling employs more than 60 and manufactures the Stages Power meter in Boulder, just east of the Valmont Bike Park on Valmont road.
