Bicycle frame builder apprentice wanted:
If you ever wanted to learn how to create and build your own frames but do not know how to weld or have any machining skills we might have a place for you at our new shop.
Here’s what we do: We are a workshop for our customers to come in and build their own bicycle frame out of bamboo and carbon fiber in a 2 day workshop. This workshop is not specifically set up for intense cyclist or die hard riders. We have people of all ages and skill sets coming to build bikes with us.
Who we are looking for:
Someone who is dedicated towards honing a craft and has a love for design and building things. You do not need to know how to build a bike or even change a flat tire. You do need to be a self starter and easily motivated to do great work, again and again. I am not looking for some elitis cyclist who thinks they know everything about the newest gear…don’t even bother emailing.
Where we are going…will you ever get paid???
The short answer is yes. We are looking for a part/full time employee by this coming spring. You would need to be completely self sufficient in running workshops by yourself by then. We are also a full service bicycle shop and will be looking for a mechanic. We will teach you how to do general service and repair as we go. We are also starting to travel and offer workshops and already have a few set up for the spring in the midwest. We will be looking for someone to be on the road for weeks at a time running workshops in other cities…this is not necessarily the same person.
…in the interim you will get a frame out of the deal. Based on a discussed number of “volunteer” or training hours you will be able to build your own frame for free.
Again we are looking for a motivated individual that can bring people to workshops and essentially create a job for yourself. The hours are great and it pays really really well if you have the drive to help our business grow.
