DANI ROVIRA, ONE OF SPAIN’S BIGGEST CELEBRITIES, ESCAPED THE CRASH UNHURT.
Dani Rovira, 38, is a Spanish actor known for playing the lead role in one of Spain’s most popular films ever, 2014’s Ocho apellidos vascos (released in English as Spanish Affair). In 2016, Rovira, Argentine celebrity trainer Martín Giacchetta, and two other men embarked on a 12-day, 1,500K charity bike ride from Barcelona to Rome to raise awareness for Rett syndrome, a rare disorder that inhibits brain development almost exclusively in young girls. The 11-stage tour ended in an audience with Pope Francis at the Vatican.
As the group made its way toward Rome, a film crew recorded the journey for a documentary, Todos los caminos, released in Spain on Friday. But as Rovira and Giacchetta pedaled along a French road one day during the ride, a distracted driver came up behind them, ramming both men and knocking them off their bikes.
