Cyclocross In Colorado Springs

On November 13th, two Colorado Bike Shops collaborated and put on a cyclocross race at the Rampart Park BMX track. Chris Murray of RideCo Bike Shop and Mike Creed of Cafe Velo decided they just wanted to try something fun, as it’d been several years since there was a ‘cross race in the Springs.

The course was part on the BMX track and part on the surrounding trails. About 100 racers showed up to take part in the races throughout the day.

There was plenty of variety on the course from the BMX track, the sand and hills just outside the track, and the terrain of the open space trails. The highlight of many racers’ day was riding the rollers into a berm.

There is talk of another race to take place at the same location on December 17, 2016.
