CYCLO-X Series Kicks Off at Rueter Hess

Saturday was the kickoff of the Cyclo-X series held by Without Limits at a BRAND NEW venue, Rueter Hess Reservoir.

?

Almost 500 people tested out the new venue, which featured a maze-like dirt course.  The course layout provided for easy viewing of your place relative to your competitors and also offered spectators many places to cheer on their racers.

?

Course conditions were dry and the course was freshly mowed with several small gullies that racers had to zoom through.  It was chilly at the start of the race but temperatures quickly rose to the mid-80s by afternoon.  Definitely not typical CS conditions as racers were both warm and dry.

Missed out on this race?  Never fear!  There’s 6 more races to the series:

  • Sept 17th Valmont
  • Sept 24th Harlow Platts
  • Oct 23rd Flatiron Mall
  • Oct 30th Interlocken
  • Nov 12th Sienna Lake
  • Nov 19th Louisville Rec

You can participate in individual races or buy a 5-pack.

Greatly appreciate a course this end of town. Would be great if the track could be opened year round like Rhyolite in Castle Rock.

What kind of CX race never has you dismount (no barriers, no run up’s, etc.) and gives someone riding a MTB the best advantage (won our age group)? Sad example of a CX race. IMHO

I wasn’t there but that sucks when a “Cross” race has no “Cross” elements. Glad that I skipped a dirt crit.

I was at Primalpalooza a few years ago when the course was 100% ride-able. That one sucked.

Primalpalooza last year had a pretty good stair runup if I recall.

It did, but I do recall some quite talented riders in the elite field actually riding up it. It was extremely impressive.
