Cycling World Record, PeopleForBikes, Cyclist Lawyer, 7,000 miles in 28 hours…

By Bill Plock

This will date me I know, but when I was a kid, every month in school we ordered books through the Scholastic Book Program. We would adhere stickers to an order form, actually lick the envelope, stamp and mail an order. Can you imagine??

I would always order the latest Guinness Book of World Records and page through it for hours discovering who ate the most hot dogs in an hour or jumped the most cars on a motorcycle. I often thought I wanted to set a record either by shooting the most free throws in an hour or juggling a soccer ball the longest. But I never tried.

BUT, now I am attempting to finally make it–on an indoor bike. In doing this, I am raising money for People for Bikes. I used to teach indoor cycling classes and I think I once did a four hour class–but not 28 hours, non-stop. Yep, 28 hours.

The current record is held by an Australian group set on August 31, 2019. Here is a link to their record: https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/432533-longest-spinning-static-cycling-class

We do get a 10 minute break every two hours to use the facilities, that’s it. We will be instructed by Megan Hottman and we can’t just sit there and spin our legs. This is a legitimate class. You can’t even sit up with hands off the handle bars for more than few seconds. Judges from Guinness will be there.

At 303Endurance Network we have decided to participate once a year in a direct fund raising initiative to help support those who make cycling and endurance sports safer, more accessible and simply more fun.

On December 1-2, 2019, 20-25 riders will attempt to break the World Record for the longest static cycling class in history. Combined, we will ride mileage equivalent to biking from NYC to LA… and back.

Presented by TheCyclist-Lawyer.com and Breaking History TV, hosted by CycleBar, and benefitting PeopleForBikes… this 28-hour nonstop cycling record attempt will test riders’ limits, mental and physical strength, and stretch even the hardest endurance athlete — but it’s all for an AMAZING organization… Our goal: $100,000 raised for PeopleForBikes. Let’s make cycling safer for everyone!!
