Cycling Coordinator to help Youth development through cycling–cool opportunity to make a difference!

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Mile High 360 is an after-school college access program for underserved students in Denver Public Schools. Mile High 360 fosters academic, athletic, and personal growth for students from low-income families through a program that promotes development in academic, health & wellness, and life skills. Participants join the program in sixth grade and remain in the program through age 24, participating in over 425 hours of activities per year. Established in 2008 as Mile High Squash, Mile High 360 is a 501c3 not-for-profit charitable organization and is an equal opportunity employer. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to expand the Mile High 360 program in the context of a high-energy, team-oriented work environment. The successful candidate will bring a passion for inspiring, mentoring, and guiding youth as well as a detailed and creative approach to program planning and administration.

OVERVIEW
Working closely with the cycling coordinator, academic coordinators, and program director, the Cycling Coordinator will organize and implement a comprehensive cycling program. The Cycling Coordinator will ensure Mile High 360’s students develop long-term connections to the organization by engaging them in programming that supports the fundamentals of cycling, enthusiasm for the sport, and overall student health and wellness.

Note: This is a part-time role with an anticipated schedule of 20 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working with youth in cycling, additional experience supporting students in an academic setting preferred.
• Experience with basic to intermediate bicycle maintenance.
• Outstanding speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills, including adaptability, creativity, and initiative.
• Strong commitment to relationship building.
• Experience related to serving students from diverse communities. 
• Spanish speaking skills preferred.

Specific Oversight
The Cycling Coordinator is accountable for the following:
I. Working under guidance of the lead Cycling Coordinator to implement the program’s cycling curriculum that supports the program’s core values and includes the following:
       -Implementing Mile High 360’s bicycle safety program;    
       -Implementing Mile High 360’s bicycle maintenance program;
       -Implementing Mile High 360’s bicycle riding program.    
II. Working in collaboration with the lead Cycling Coordinator to support maintenance of cycling equipment inventory, including:
       -Maintenance of cycling equipment;    
       -Organization of cycling related gear, ensuring that the necessary equipment is always on hand, is safe, and is clean.    
III. Effective program support, including:
        -Co-planning with the cycling and academic program coordinators;
        -Coordinating trips and external summer opportunities with other program staff;    
        -Assisting in the planning of community service projects and local field trips as needed.  
IV. Establishing strong relationships with Mile High360 stakeholders by:  
        -Building robust relationships with students and their parents, teachers, volunteers, and mentors;
        -Assisting in the planning and coordination of parent support/ parent outreach activities; 
        -Displaying understanding and empathy with a range of community and staff stakeholders. 
V. Working in collaboration with the lead Cycling Coordinator on student data collection, including collecting data for cycling and fitness-related activities.
VI. Establish and maintain effective communication with students from diverse communities including Spanish-speaking families
