    In the last few months of racing cyclocross, I’ve realized so many parallels this insane sport has to my own life. As a triathlete for the better of the last 8 years, my life was a lot like my training rides…one big blur after the other in a mad rush to get to the next thing. Was it fun? Absolutely.         Saturday morning saw a record turnout for the 2017 edition of Schoolyard Cross. A mid-season cyclocross favorite, the course has a little something in store for roadies and mountain bikers alike. Evidently, the word is out. According to the announcer, who broadcast his condolences to the volunteers working registration, over 150 racers turned out for race day registration– twice as many as organizers anticipated. Read more

        • Cyclocross competitors ramp up the excitement in Boulder

          Competitors of all ages raced in the 2017 US Open of Cyclocross on Saturday at the Valmont Bike Park and will be back out for more on Sunday. Staged by the International Cycling Union, the world’s governing body for cycling, it is the largest cycling event in Colorado to date, according to race director Lance Panigutti. Read more

          • Wicked winds can’t steal Valmont victory from Gage Hecht

            Saturday’s US Open of Cyclocross course used almost every inch of the Valmont Bike Park hillside in Boulder, Colorado. It wound up and down and up again and west and east then west again. As gusts flung dust about and stretched course tape into scallops, the west winds magnified the rollercoaster effect, alternately pushing and holding back riders. Read more
