Just Us Girls!
January 12, 2018 @ 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm
This is a special event to raise funds for the Front Rangers Cycling Club’s Girls Bike Club.
Join us on January 12th and attend the “Her Paris” Women Artists in the Age of Impressionism exhibit at the Denver Art Museum.
You will see remarkable works created by women in Paris from 1850 to 1900, a time of great social, cultural, and artistic change. Even though Paris was known as a cosmopolitan city, Parisian society was still very restrictive for women. They were not allowed to attend to the École des Beaux-Arts (School of Fine Arts)until 1897, and it was not socially acceptable to frequent public spaces, such as cafes, to work on their art and mingle with their peers without a male companion. The exhibition will trace how, despite societal challenges, women embraced their artistic aspirations and helped create an alternative system that included attending private academies, exhibiting independently, and forming their own organizations.
Following the art exhibit, there will be a celebration at the Art Hotel. Just Us Girls toasting the success of women past, present and future. Like the women artists in Paris, women athletes and cyclists have embraced their athletic aspirations and have worked hard to succeed. We need to continue on!
The Front Rangers Cycling Club Girls Bike Club will:
Have weekly “girls only” rides every Wednesday – bikes provided
Design and create specialized cycling attire for Muslim girls to accommodate their modest needs
Provide scholarships to Tri Velo Series jr. cycling camps.
