Buena Vista Bike Fest

June 5, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Leaving BV, the GRAVEL GRINDER rides through the Colorado Midland Railway Tunnels past the historic town of Vicksburg to either the Sheep Gulch trailhead (official turnaround) or the Winfield ghost town. The train to the right posed for a picture at the north end of the tunnels in 1888. Our 2020 jersey echos this railroad theme and also includes a penny-farthing bicycle on the back.  For road cyclists, our ride is one of the most beautiful in the state, with four route options (century, metric, half century and 35 miles). You will take in the outstanding views of Colorado’s highest mountain peaks while enjoying the sunshine of the Arkansas River Valley. This is an ideal warm up for your summer riding season and is only a 2 hour drive from the Front Range!BVBF is sponsored by Buena Vista Rotary, and proceeds support the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth until they begin school, no matter their family’s income. Rotary helps to fund this project locally to encourage reading. From noon until 5:00 p.m. relax at the BVBF Post Ride Party in McPhelemy Park. Join us for beverages, food, music and prizes. You might even want to get a massage. This area is a sports paradise, so plan to spend the weekend in Buena Vista and enjoy rafting, mountain biking, fishing, hiking or just sight-seeing.Volunteers needed!

If you don’t want to ride, there are plenty of ways to get involved, either before, during or after the event. Check out this list of volunteer jobs.
