Boulder County ‘wheels on the ground’ bike tour
October 22, 2016
From The Daily Camera
Boulder County Transportation and Land Use departments and the city of Boulder’s Transportation Department are hosting a free community, “wheels on the ground” bike tour on Saturday to showcase examples of successful local land-use and transportation planning.
Riders will gather in small groups at the Boulder County Courthouse parking lot, 1325 Pearl St. in Boulder, at 8:45 a.m. for the 9 a.m. start. The ride will conclude between noon and 1 p.m. at the Rayback Collective food truck park and event space at 2775 Valmont Road in Boulder.
The 25-mile Boulder-to-Niwot loop includes stops where thoughtful community planning, open-space preservation and water resource management have successfully shaped the strong sense of place the county and city are known for.
The route includes paved and dirt roads and soft-surface and concrete trails, with an approximate total elevation gain of 500 feet. Riders can refill water bottles, grab a quick bit and take care of minor bike adjustments at an aid station in Niwot.
Participants are encouraged to register online at eventbrite.com/e/boulder-valley-planning-highlights-bike-tour-tickets-28380117696.
