CNC Mill Operator at Wheels Manufacturing in Louisville Making Cool Bike Parts

Come work at Wheels Manufacturing!  Founded in 1988, Wheels Manufacturing is the largest domestic manufacturer of replacement parts for the cycling industry.  

CNC Machinist II will play a key role in operating CNC mills to produce product. You will also play a key role in helping to maintain the machines to stay in peak operating efficiency. As a member of the Wheels production team you will also be required to work with colleagues to maintain a safe, clean, and operationally efficient shop. 

In this role you will be responsible for the following: 
• Ability to independently power on, set up and operate CNC mills (must be self-sufficient) 
• Properly identify, select, and use various tooling and fixtures for part production  
• Understand and perform geometry and tool wear offsets 
• Prep raw material 
• Properly and safely load raw materials 
• Uses gauges and measuring instruments to ensure parts meet tolerance requirements 
• Carry out finishing room tasks as needed
• Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on CNC machinery 
• Aids in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop environment 
• Supplies constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department 
• Meets all quality requirements for parts
• Is flexible with time and schedule to assure availability as circumstances warrant 

What you need to succeed: 
● High School diploma or GED required
● 2-5 years related machining experience required
● Have set up knowledge of various types of tooling preferred
● Proficient at reading and interpreting blueprints 
● Basic computer skills 
● Good math skills 
● General understanding of the measuring instruments 
● A positive team player 
● Motivated learner and self-starter

Physical Demands: 
● Must possess the manual skill to use tools and make adjustments to equipment
● Must be able to use micrometer, calipers, indicators, and other various precision tools
● Must be able to function in noisy environment and tolerate exposure to oil, grease, chemicals, metal chips, and dust.
