A Boulder County sheriff’s deputy ticketed a 58-year-old woman Monday after catching her driving her car on the paved bike path alongside the Boulder-bound lanes of U.S. 36 on Davidson Mesa.
Dispatchers began receiving reports of a silver car driving on the U.S. 36 bikeway around 9 a.m. Monday, sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Haverfield said. The vehicle also was captured by a driver with a dashcam who posted the video to reddit later that morning.
When a deputy found the car, the driver said she mistakenly had gotten onto the path near McCaslin Boulevard, thinking it was a frontage road, Haverfield said.
The woman told deputies she drove down the path toward Boulder, until she could not drive any further. She then turned around and headed back up the mesa before she was stopped by a deputy.
