Alejandro Acosta Celebrated at Sanitas Brewery by His Peloton of Friends

By Bill Plock

As someone who never met Alejandro Acosta, the minute I started talking with his wife Anna and all of his cycling friends at Sanitas Brewery, I felt like I had known him my entire life.

Unfortunately on July 17th, 2021 Alejandro was killed by a motorist on Lee Hill Drive while riding his bike. A few weeks later his cycling friends gathered at “their” spot, Sanitas Brewery for a celebration of Life.

This peloton of friends and Anna reflected with a few words to describe Alejandro “Alex” to someone who may never have met—like me.

He seemed to attract everyone and his Tuesday night rides from Sanitas brewery were legendary. Legendary fun. Not considered an intimidating group, but rather a group that reflected his deep passion for connecting with others. He shepherded new riders, made everyone smile and seemed to love cycling more than almost anything.

Funny, the website for Sanitas Brewery says, “spirited and adventurous individuals working together to bring you a tasty beverage to enjoy in the company of our tap room, to accompany you to our neighboring Rocky Mountains or sip in the comfort of your own home.”

I am intrigued who attracted who, Alejandro to Sanitas Brewery or Sanitas to Alejandro—they seemed to share a mission.

Unfortunately he will never meet his soon to be child, if you care to help Anna and their child, here is a link to a GoFund Me page. https://www.gofundme.com/f/alejandro-acosta-memorial-fund
