If you raced a Without Limits cyclocross or road cycling event in 2015 you were bound to see Barry Lee during the day. He was a jack of all trades last season, bouncing around the venue helping string course tape, conduct podium ceremonies, greet vendors, set up volunteers, and jump behind a registration table. 70 degrees and sunny or -5 degrees and snowy Barry’s passion was always evident. Maybe that enthusiasm was fueled by his giant thermos of
Conscious coffee, but either way he’s become a positive fixture in the Colorado cycling scene. For the 2016 season, Barry has been promoted to lead race director for the Sunshine Hill Climb, Guanella Pass Hill Climb, Boulder Stage Race, and 3 days of Salida.

“When Barry first moved to Boulder he jumped right in volunteering for the Mike Horgan Hill Climb and Morgul Bismark. At first we thought this guy was too good to be true: bringing 10+ volunteers out to each event, helping coordinate post-race food through Ideal Market, and helping market our races- but that’s just Barry. It’s no secret that everyone on our staff comes from a racing background, that’s a resume requirement- but Barry brought so much more to the table. He currently runs the Ninox Racing Team, has founded and directed numerous large scale events in Austin, gives back to the grass roots community with his Casey Middle School Program, and has served as a USAC official and coach. Our mission is to grow the sport at all levels: women, juniors, amateurs, and aspiring pros. So when it came to finding a race director, Barry was a perfect fit for our style of race production.” – Lance Panigutti co-owner Without Limits Productions

“When you watch Barry at an event it’s clear that he brings a fresh perspective that is needed for a well-rounded race. Having been a cat1 racer he understands the dynamics and needs of the professional level, but his passion for helping women, juniors, and beginner men overcome barriers is what leads to a balanced race for all” – Tony Panigutti co-owner Without Limits Productions

So what can we expect in terms of big changes for Barry’s events this summer? Time will tell, but rumor is the Boulder Stage Race, supported by the Sklar-RealD Cycling Team, is undergoing a huge makeover. Stay tuned for three brand new stages soon to be released!
