Blue Sky Velo - Cyclocross

Saturday's race at Xlinix was anything but less than amazing! Hats off to the crew at Blue Sky Velo for putting on a UCI quality race at the ACA level. Mother nature was kind and the racers showed their appreciation by showing up, all 586 registered riders with 105 in the men's cat 4 field!! It was also good to have David Towle back in Colorado at the helm of the mic and extra good to hear him give credit to 303racing, Thanks Dave!!!

I raced it in the single speed field to get some more eingang experience for nationals in the largest single speed field of the year but still small considering the prize list they offer but no prize for me, one spot off of the money. I thought the course great with a good mix of asphalt, dirt/mud and sand, maybe there could have been a bit more running but I'm not complaining since I hate running.

In addition to great racing Peter Weber and the crew from Valmont Bike Park were there showing off what is store for Boulder in 09. I spoke to Peter about the Park and trail design and he provided some very interesting insight into the park and how they designed it, however that will have to be for another story.

When I wasn't running my mouth I had it full of beer provided by Dale's Pale Ale and a brat provided by Blue Sky. Extra special thanks goes again to the folks at Blue Sky Velo and all the support they received to make the race go on as well as it had.

Thanks for the plug. It's going to be a great race. Check out the prize list too. Several of the categories have iPods for the winners in addition to gift certificates an other schwag. Also, we'll be grilling up some free brats from The Pumphouse (donations accepted and donated to the Valmont bike park). Come on out an enjoy some really nice fall weather.
