This weekend, Community Cycles is hosting a rather special gathering called Mountain States Bike!Bike! We've invited people from around the country who work at, run, or are interested in starting some sort of not-for-profit bike project. There will be workshops all weekend long, starting Friday at 1 PM, with workshops continuing all day Saturday and Sunday morning.
Some of the workshops include:
Pedalgogy: Teaching bike mechanics, led by Lennard Zinn of Zinn Cycles
The Rhetoric of Activism, by Dr. Patty Malesh, Asst Professor of Communication at CU Boulder
Fundraising grassroots style, with Dan Hanley, Development Director of Boulder County AIDS Project
Working with local bike shops, with Karli Gronholm, owner Full Cycle
and lots more*.
If you're reading this, you are welcome to join us. There is a suggested donation of $40 to attend workshops which covers admittance for the entire weekend.
Anyone who has ever considered starting or working at a not-for-profit bike shop, or organization is encouraged to come on out, contribute to the discussion, and gain some knowledge.
We're also throwing a party in honor of our guests, on Saturday night. Come out, dance in the bike shop, enjoy live music, food, and beer. Party starts around 7 PM at the main shop.
