Racing at Nationals starts NOW

News Item:

I don't know how many times I have raced... maybe 300 times over nearly 2 decades and still every time I line up to the starting line my pulse races, I get jumpy, sweating, and there I was again, lined up everything ready. Clock, (check), credit card (check), USA license (check), browser on KCCX registration page hitting refresh every 30 seconds (check)

BANG, registration is open

I'm not sure if I got the hole shot but I was up there. First barrier, need to login to registration, damn, do I remember my username and password from last year, YES. Clear the first barrier. Checked my category and could have taken the short cut and checked out right then but I also wanted to race single speed division and so I took the long route. I think I lost about 10 places with this move. I went back, checked single speed and back to checkout. Enter general info and credit card, submit... declined. OUCH, tripped over those barriers!!! I had the expiration date incorrect. Fixed, submit... browser spinning, spinning, DONE, 12:07 said my watch! Probably did not win but I'm sure my call up will be better than something like 110 of last year!

Medals to Colorado riders at Collegiate Nats in the Springs

News Item:

Tirrel Groventein and Dan Lionberg of CSU both picked up medals at 2008 USA Cycling Collegiate Track National Championships.

Attention Fort Collins CSU Fans

Got this from FCVelodrome the other day...

OK, I took a leap of faith in predicting the Rams would be on the
podium at Track Nationals. So, after day one, we're already there,
with Dan "the Lion" Lionberg taking first in the 3000m pursuit(his
best event is yet to come), and Tirrel Grovenstein also placing in the
Women's 2000m pursuit. CSU is in contention to take the Omnium awards
from other collegiate teams who have major scholarship support and a
local velodrome for their athletes. Our kids are awesome, and chose to
be here because Fort Collins is far and away, a superior cycling home
base(and CSU is an excellent university). What could we be with a
convenient cycling park and velodrome within a stone's throw from
campus (and New Belgium)? Answer.......Perennial National Champions.

Would that help Dr. Penley and the Board of Regents make their 20%
enrollment ambition easier? I think so.

We have seats available on our private charter bus to the Springs for
the final night of the TrackNATS. We leave from my office at 3 PM
Saturday 9/13 and the cost is $20 or $10 for CSU Students for the

Colorado Road Season is over... already?

News Item:

This weekend we saw the final road race in Colorado.... and now the season is over and CX starts next week. While I am very excited for CX to start I am surprised that the season is over especially considering it starts in such crappy weather season of April.

Here a reader comments on the season ending so soon.
