The Sunday, July 12th is Longmont's 23rd annual downtown criterium. The course was formerly the Colorado State Cycling Championships which was a slightly bigger course running down mainstreet. Still a fantastic course today especially as it winds by Thompson park allowing families a wonderful spot to have a picnic and watch the race. Additionally the Longmont crit was one of Colorado's best kids race (with Denver's city park crit being pretty good too).
Big weekend ahead in Breckenridge as Breck Bike Week gets kicked off July 4th with the start of the Firecracker 50. This race is 50 miles of hard mountain biking and not only does the terrain make it hard but this race is also classified as the USA Cycling Marathon MTB National Championship. Last years winners where Sari Anderson and Jeremiah Bishop. There will be plenty more to do for the rest of the family if racing is primary for the day, check out the full list of 4th of July Events at Breckenridge.
We got an email earlier this week that let us know that there are a number of Juniors heading to Los Angeles next week to participate in the 2009 Junior Track Nationals.
What appears to be a last minute change, the Master Track Nationals will be in Colorado Springs instead of Indiana. The racing is targeted for August 18-23rd and registration opens June 21st
