Two of our past board members, Carol Kauder and Kayla Thomason, give us a little insight into what makes them, and women's racing, tick. The work done by these two exceptional women over the years has helped get us where we are today. Current board members Susan Adamkovics, Rachel Scott and Sue Lloyd are building upon the foundation that was built over the last decade.

Thanks to the ACA for allowing us to post this. Construction is nearing a end on the the Boulder Valley Velodrome in Erie Colorado so hopefully you still held on to that track bike after the fall of the recent Boulder Velodrome in Boulder. . According to their website the track will be operational in July of 2013.

Last week, Higgins competed in her second track world championships -- after only six years of racing. In her first trip to the worlds, last year, her best finish was sixth in the points race. This year, she finished fifth in a different mass-start event on the oval -- the scratch.

Boulder racer Amy Dombroski is spending her second season in a row overseas. She will be competing in Belgium for the Young Telenet Fidea cycling team, while she learns more about Belgian customs and racing hard. Most recently, Dombroski finished eighth at the Superprestige Hamme-Zogge in early November.

Governor Hickenlooper joins other cyclists in the Pedal the Plains Grand Fondo today.

News Item: 

The Pedal the Plains Grand Fondo rolled away on it's 120 mile journey around the eastern plains of Colorado as it started and finished the Burlington Colorado. Not only did the Grand Fondo roll out today but so did day 2 of the Pedal the Plains 3 day tour. Both of these events are new this year to Colorado and are being organized and operated by the Denver Post, which is the same organization who runs Ride the Rockies... so they know what they are doing. The Governor is a strong supporter of cycling as he is a cyclists himself and a strong supporter of Safe Routes to Schools for kids walking or biking to school.
