First crit of the year for me in beautiful Niwot Colorado, one of the classic criterium courses and not for the weak at heart (so what was I doing out there). So many turns that at times your mind goes numb and racing a bike becomes a hypnotic act. Props to all out came out to race and watch, what a wonderful course and race... but don't take my word see for yourself from the lens of the photographers on course

The Denver City Park Criterium appeared to take off smoothly however being a very technical course there were crashes. Results have been posted showing a total of 420 entries (minus the huge kids field). There were also a handful of photographers there, check them out!

There was a lot of chatter in the comments about the course, its route and the surface conditions before the race happened.

Looking for 2011 Gunnison Growler?

This years 2010 Gunnison Growler was won in the men's field by Kelly Magelky of Golden and in the women's field by Melissa Thomas of Boulder.

I know the Gunnison Growler filled up within a couple of days of registration opening up but here is a video at the start of the race and towards the end of the video a few clips of the single track. All worth watching for sure! The video was taken by Rob O,Dea from a motorcycle.

Looking deeper into the results might lead to a few more interesting questions like Peter Weber return to the dirt or (4th) or the unstoppable Travis Brown (2nd) and the flying Yuki from Japan (6th)

Morgul Bismark - Street Sprints

News Item:

This weekend is the Superior Morgul Classic which includes the resurrection of the Morgul Bismark road race. Part of this weekend of racing is the Friday night Street Sprints. This is something a little different and I expect to be a great spectator sport. Below are a list of the rules for the Street Sprints.

Race Start and Staging: The start of the Street Sprints will be just west of the Community Park on Coalton Rd and South Indiana St. Racers will head east on Coalton Rd and finish at the intersection of Coalton Rd and Rock Creek Circle.

  • Staging will be continuous throughout the event. Please adhere to staging volunteer and officials’ instructions.
  • If you have placed in a sprint and progressed to the next round, please proceed directly back to the start line. Missed starts will constitute a DNF result.

CU Short Track Escapes Mother Nature's Wrath

With 50% chance of thunderstorms and plenty of thunderheads around the forecast for getting the race rolling was questionable as it usually can be the first month or so of racing but when go time came for all categories the weather held back leaving some good racing back at the Colorado Research Park. I personally toed the line in the Single Speed field which was surprisingly small and loosely organized at the back of the men's B field.

While results are not yet up for last night, usually takes a few days, last week is up and this URL appears to be bookmarkable for future reference
