Farmers Market reschedule due to US Pro Challenge event

The sixth stage of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge is expected to bring more than 100,000 spectators to Boulder on Aug. 25, and with them an increased presence of public safety crews as well as extended road closures to accommodate the race.

Wristbands now available in Boulder for Flagstaff finish of USA Pro Challenge

Wristbands for those who want to watch the Flagstaff finish of the USA Pro Challenge at the end of the month are now available at various locations throughout Boulder.

Boulder will be hosting Stage 6 of the USA Pro Challenge on August 25, with the finish taking place on Flagstaff mountain. Those who wish to watch the finish will be required to wear a special Tyvek wristband that lists the rules and code of conduct for access to the mountain.

The wristbands are free and each person will be limited to five. Wristbands must be picked up in person.

In south Boulder the wristbands will be available at Trek Store, 2626 Baseline Rd., and Boulder Cycle Sport, 629 Broadway.

Race Fans Fear USA Pro Cycling Challenge May Not Return to Boulder

Amid the more publicized concerns about fire danger and possible charter violations, another fear about the USA Pro Cycling Challenge has been quietly rising among Boulder cycling enthusiasts -- that race organizers will skip the city in future years.

2012 - USA Pro Cycling Challenge Road Closures

News Item: 

The USA Pro Cycling Challenge is right around the corner and CDOT has posted a list of road closures for each of the stages.

Here is summary of road closures:

  • Aug. 20/Stage 1 from Durango to Telluride: Highways impacted include State Highway 160, State Highway 184, and State Highway 145. Impacts will begin at 10 a.m. and end about 4 p.m.
  • Aug. 21/Stage 2 from Montrose to Mount Crested Butte: Highways impacted include US 50, State Highway 135 and Cottonwood Pass. Cottonwood Pass will be closed from Aug. 21 at 3 p.m. until
  • Aug. 22 at about 1 p.m. Other impacts will begin at 11 a.m. and end about 4 p.m.
  • Aug. 22/Stage 3 from Gunnison to Aspen: Highways impacted include State Highway 135, US 24, Cottonwood Pass, and State Highway 82—Independence Pass. Cottonwood Pass will be closed from
  • Aug. 21 at 3 p.m. until Aug. 22 at about 1 p.m. Other impacts will begin at 10 a.m. and end about 6 p.m.
  • Aug. 23/Stage 4 from Aspen to Beaver Creek: Highways impacted include State Highway 82, US 24, and US 6. Impacts begin at 9 a.m. and end about 4 p.m.
