A recent article in the Wall Street Journal caught my eye as it encapsulated something I’ve been thinking about lately.
Housing development has, for many years, assumed the automobile to be the primary means of transportation for the new home occupant. New single family homes have touted two, three and even four car garages. Condominiums and apartments have been required to provide two or more parking spaces per unit under local zoning ordinances. Local developers, in their marketing literature, have boasted easy access to the local freeway(s) and very optimistic driving times to downtown Denver.
