Magnolia Hill Climb, the Queen of Bike Climbs!

Colorado is filled with great riding and with its multiple mountains contains plenty of high altitude and solid climbing as well. This month’s ascent certainly qualifies as it is one of the most difficult in the state. Located near Boulder it is a steep monster and can test you.

Lee Hill Closed again and other contruction projects

LEE HILL DRIVE CLOSED – 4th Street to Olde Stage, weekdays 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, June 13 through 24th. NO BICYCLE ACCESS TO LEE HILL OR OLDE STAGE DURING CLOSURES

No access to mountains from city of Boulder. Boulder County will reconstructing Lee Hill Drive over the next two weeks. The road will be closed during the day and have fairly horrendous surface conditions when it is open at night. Please use extreme caution during construction and obey closures when in effect.

This is the final step in the process of improving Lee Hill Drive for both cyclists and motorists. When re-opened, the road is expected to have its full width of asphalt. Additional work on curb-and-gutter, guardrail and re-vegetation will continue through the first week of July. One final layer of asphalt will mark the completion of the project for improved access and safety this summer and beyond.

Rocky Mtn. Bicycle Festival this weekend in Denver!

The 4th annual Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival rolls into Denver, CO this weekend, June 11 & 12 at INVESCO Field. This year’s event will feature some of the most interesting companies in the cycling industry as well as free sports clinics, GoldSprints, movies, a kid’s riding course and games/art corner, the Cruiser Jamboree, free yoga, massage and more.

“We’re lucky have exhibitors that are some of the most innovative companies around,” said Festival Director Carol Johnson. “Boulder-based Green Guru will be accepting old tubes, wetsuits and climbing rope that they reclaim and turn into everything from leashes to luggage. Ron from King Cage will be showing people how he makes his world-famous titanium and steel bottle cages. We’ll have great custom framebuilders, non-profit groups and niche companies like Hüdz Enhancement Brake Hoods there as well.”

USA Pro Cycling Challenge Inaugural Route

USA PRO CYCLING CHALLENGE INAUGURAL ROUTE TO SHOWCASE AMERICA’S TOUGHEST CLIMBS, DAILY DRAMA

DENVER -- The USA Pro Cycling Challenge, a free event to the public taking place in Colorado August 22-28, 2011, has announced the specifics of the route that 128 of the world’s best professional cyclists will take when they compete for seven days in this inaugural year. From climbing two 12,000-foot mountain passes in one day, to sprint lines in some of the most scenic locations on earth, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge promises to be the most challenging race in America.

Beginning with an extraordinarily fast Prologue time trial in Colorado Springs, to the Queen Stage between Gunnison and Aspen where athletes will test their endurance and altitude adjustment when they have to climb both Independence Pass and Cottonwood Pass in one day, to the final stage drama over Lookout Mountain and into downtown Denver, cyclists will be tested like never before, and spectators will have ample opportunity to view what they love most about professional cycling races.

Boulder 360/180 rolls on with success

This wasn't your typical hard-core, competitive Boulder bike event.

Today's 14th annual Circle Boulder bike ride, a self-guided tour of Boulder's extensive bike trails that started at Scott Carpenter Park, attracted bike enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. Between 800 and 900 people, from babies in bike trailers to seniors, typically turn out for the event.
