About the Store: Excel Sports Boulder is a high end mail order (phone and internet) retailer with a retail storefront in Boulder Colorado. We are a reasonably small company with 20 employees that work very efficiently. We have a saying that we are “cyclists serving cyclists” and we try to provide knowledge, experience, parts and service that you don’t always find in our part of the market. Our showroom is located at the front of our warehouse in Boulder Colorado. It is a very small space but has a good amount of traffic that goes through it. About the position: We are looking for an individual who is ready to jump in to help create an ideal retail environment. This individual will be part of our sales staff that will work directly with o ur customers and they will communicate with our marketing, web, customer service and buying departments to make sure everything runs smoothly. We need someone who has experience with bike fitting, is excited to help customers and knows the bike industry.

Responsibilities

· Communicate with marketing and web departments any promotional information

· Maintain visual merchandising

· Bike fitting

· Phone sales

· Help organize showroom events

About the position: We are looking for a seasonal addition to our work shop. We need an experienced mechanic that is ready to work on high end bikes throughout the summer months. This position ends September 15th.

Responsibilities
• Communicate with Staff, Marketing and buyers when questions arise
• Bike Repairs
• Bike Builds
• Work with customers, answer questions etc

Requirements
• Positive attitude
• Communication Skills
• Organization
• Ability to multi task
• Wheel building a plus
• High level of experience building and maintaining bikes at a professional level.

2011 Boulder Walk and Bike Month

Sunday, June 5 – B-360 Bike Ride
As part of Boulder’s Walk & Bike Month, everyone is invited to take part in the annual B-360 Boulder By Bike Ride tour from 3-5 p.m. It’s an enjoyable ride that’s fun for all ages and showcases the city’s cycling and pedestrian paths. Participants can ride an entire loop around the city or ride a half-loop called the B180. Both rides begin and end at Scott Carpenter Park at Arapahoe Avenue and 30th Street. Stick around after the ride for refreshments, a picnic and prize drawings.

Wednesday, June 8 – Boulder Creek Path Historic Bike Tour
Come to the historic Settler’s Park at 5:30 p.m. on June 8 for a relaxing ride along the Boulder Creek Path. All ages and abilities are welcome. For more information, visit www.boulderhistory.org, or call 303-499-3464.

Friday, June 17 – Park(ing) Spaces Day
As part of Park(ing) Spaces Day, paid parking spaces downtown and in parking lots around Boulder are transformed into places where visitors can stop, visit, and benefit from many different types of activities, from chair massages to yoga to bike repair stations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers sought for Boulder’s Walk and Bike Month

BOULDER — Organizers of Boulder’s 35th annual Walk & Bike Month are seeking volunteers for the 70+ events planned for June. Come be a part of this annual tradition celebrating Boulder’s unique and nationally-recognized pedestrian and bicycle culture. Volunteers help with everything from distributing posters to offering administrative support. Dates and hours are flexible.

Benjamin Trail Loop opens today

News Item: 

Today at 4pm there will be a ceremonial event to open the desperately need 3.1 miles of the new at the Betasso Preserve. Later this summer a connector tail from Four Mile Canyon will be created allowing riders who don't mind a little asphalt to make a wonderful loop ride out of Boulder. 303Cycling will attempt to ride the trail today to provide more feedback of the trail. If you ride this trail this week then please comment here on this story your opinion of how it was.

Schedule of events today

Grand opening schedule
2:30 p.m. – Nature hike from Betasso Trailhead to ceremony site.

3:15 p.m. – Time hikers should leave trailhead to reach the site in time.

3:30 p.m. – Shuttle van departs trailhead.

o The van is for people who are not able to hike or ride.
o Reservations are required. Contact Sukey Williams at swilliams@bouldercounty.org or 303-678-6222.
o Van riders must still be able to make the 15-minute hike at the top.

3:40 p.m. – Time bikers should leave trailhead to reach the site in time.

4 p.m. – Ribbon-cutting ceremony and official trail opening!
