Valmont Volunteer Work Session - Thursday, November 1, 4:00-5:30 p.m.
The Boulder Cup was an incredible event! Now we need your help to rehab the course and help keep Valmont looking great.
Tools will be provided. Kids are welcome. Meet at the tool shed behind the restrooms. If you arrive late, just grab a tool by the shed and come find a work crew out on the course.
Please RSVP (petewebbercx@gmail.com)so I know who's coming. If you can't attend, no worries! We realize people are busy and schedules are full!
And here's a big THANKS for helping maintain our awesome park!
P.S. Join us at RockyMounts after for a cold beer and socializing :)
DBC charged for dang near everything but the air we were breathing on Sunday and now they want volunteers to rehab the event site. They need to reevaluate how they organize things if they don't have the funds to cleanup after themselves.
I halfway agree, Boulder Cup was great event but it is a bit much to pay up for, maybe we need some basic office park style cx events with no extras added.... Junk course, no prizes, no announcers, no nothing just a course, registration and heck, leave the ACA out as well only results are top 3 period. Who's in?
The clean up effort is organized by Pete for the community and to keep people engaged in stewardship for the park. It's to continue the collaboration that made Valmont in the first place and will keep it great. It is not just as a DBC rehab project.
Volunteering to help with a cross course or to maintain Valmont is not only about helping the event director, it is primarily about community involvement, stewardship, and giving back to the places we race. If you view this as something DBC Events should "pay" for, you are missing the point.
