More Information

BOULDER, CO USA (January 5, 2010) Ciclosportivo N.A. announces today the company is taking reservations for its SuperCorsa™ Boulder, Steamboat and Vail events, registration will commence upon issue of race permit by sport governing body.

“In an attempt to determine event and rider demand we have opened the reservation process for our SuperCorsa™ events,” Ciclosportivo N.A. company spokeswoman D’Abria Versace explains. “There is no cost to reserve one’s place in the gruppo, and reservations will have priority once regular registration opens.”

Held over challenging terrain with considerable climbing, or “super courses”, SuperCorsa™ events are proposed to combine categories Professional through Category 4, enabling amateur athletes the thrill of “being professional for a day”. “While we adore the format and are pursing the events with the combined field in mind, the reservation process may find that the events become Professional through Category 2, for example,” D’Abria Versace says.

SuperCorsa™ events are sanctioned races by the sport’s governing body and participants are required to be licensed riders of the American Cycling Association and/or USA Cycling. “While we are exploring a dual-sanction with the governing bodies, at this time it appears we will pursue an ACA registration, due largely to licensing of the lower-categorized riders,” spokeswoman Versace says.

SuperCorsa™ events have steep entry fees but rich purses, awarding nearly $10,000* in cash to the top-five places of each event. In addition to the general classification, leader jerseys are presented to the Cima Coppi, gran premio montana (GPM), last place, most combative rider, sprint points, team classification and best young rider. At the conclusion of the SuperCorsa™ series overall winners in these categories are crowned.

“Depending on domestic and international calendars, our hope is to attract riders from Columbia-HTC, Gramin-Transitions and RadioShack,” D’Abria Versace says. “We submit the events make for a great weekend of racing and training at altitude as SuperCorsa™ registration includes a complimentary entry into our Gran Fondo events.”

Ciclosportivo N.A. has extended invitations to all UCI Pro Tour and US-based Professional and Continental teams to its Supercorsa™ events, the company is also in regular contact with all cycling teams throughout Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah and Wyoming.
