Great family event this weekend with a bike rodeo for the kids with the help from Raisin Hope Foundation. But this event is more than just about being fun, it helps to get a very important message across to our youth and that is cycling safety. As we all know, cycling can be done safely but when it goes terrible wrong the media jumps all over it making cycling sound dangerous and keeping parents (like mine) from preventing kids from riding their bikes around as transportation.
Date: August 8th from 9am to 12pm
Location South Metro Fire Rescue Authority, Multi-use Joint Service Facility
From their website...
Bring your kids, their bikes and helmets for a safety makeover by South Metro Fire Rescue Safety Education. All children 14 and under will receive a safety passport for stations where South Metro Safety Foundation staff will explain helmet safety and fit, perform bike inspections, and teach riding safety. The riders can then ride the adjacent bike path with an adult to two turnarounds staffed by members of the Fire Department
