MTB Thursday - Colorado Trek Team Rocks 24hrs of Old Pueblo

Boulder, CO ­ The Trek Colorado Race Team out of Boulder Colorado debuted with fireworks. The team showed excellent form at the 2013 24hrs in The Old Pueblo last weekend. In the solo category, Jonathan Davis won the race after a battle with MTB legend David "Tinker" Juarez and was followed closely by team members, Curt Wilhelm in 2nd place and Brian Sells in 4th. Adam Haid entered the four man open category with three cyclists from local teams: Rocky Mountain Racing (CO), GS Boulder (CO), and Velo Hangar (CA). They took 2nd place, tying the factory racers from Sho­Air/Canondale with 22 laps and were only 28 minutes behind.

The team consists of five experienced endurance racers and some up and comers. Leading the team is Jonathan Davis, 2012 24hrs Duo CoEd National Champ and 100 miler regular. Curt Wilhelm has many 100 mile and marathon distance racing under his belt, and is also a coach under his MTBCoach.com website. Long time endurance veteran Charlie Hayes is back another year to race marathons, 100’s, and stage races on his single speed. Brian Sells moved over from Epic Endurance Cycling after a strong year racing marathons, 100’s, and a full CX season. Adam Haid is switching gears from racing marathons to be our presence in XC and half marathon races. Thirteen year old Tanner Davis already has four 24hr solos and many XC races and will be racing XC and half marathons. Eleven year old Bailey Sells will be debuting this season in her first MTB race, but is also a fast swimmer winning many heats in her age group. The entire team is racing on Trek Superfly Mountain Bikes.

The team will be seen at many races around the Rocky Mountain Region. They are scheduled to be at the NUE opener True Grit, Whiskey 50, all the Rocky Mountain Endurance Series Races, 24hrs National Championship, BreckEpic 6 day stage race, Vapor Trail 125 and completing the season at 24hrs World Championships in Australia.
