League Racing Categories

I was at the velodrome last night for the first night of racing. It was very exciting and fun to watch. One thing I took away from the night was the need for people to be honest about the categories that they are racing.

In the second race of the night which was the Mens B Snowball a employee of Boulder Indoor Cycling raced and he is a Cat 1 rider. There was one rider in this group who was lapped within the first couple minutes and ended up dropping out after 5 minutes of racing.

I think they need to enforce the categories and potentially add a Mens C. I know this is adding another category which leads to more work etc but if you havent noticed that have canceled some if not all of the womans racing so why not add another Mens category.

Very true about the categories. What would be cool is if the Velodrome used categories and everyone started off as a 4 or 5 and you "cat up" just like you do with the ACA or USAC. I know this would be an administrative nightmare but it would be a great / fair way to do the racing.

This happens in all racing.

This happens in all racing. If you where to race Sea Otter in Monteray, CA there are Pro Mt. Bikers racing Cat 4/5

It all gets sorted out. The addition on the Cat 1( He is a Cat 2) was to widen the field. Paul Wells wanted to make sure his races went well and attended. The Cat 1 took a huge risk race with a "B" group. However there are people that work hard at this sport.

I was racing in that field and of course I feel bad for a racer blown off in the first lap. However my team is extremely helpful and would aid any racer/biker in need. The person that did not do well can always ask us for help and we would work with them.

My question is " why is there someone always complaining in Colorado about racing". Overall the racing is great and there are a lot of complaints. Most racers in the nation have to tavel numerous hours to one race and it may not go well because of one super human guy.

That is how the cookie crumbles.
